Elderly Conference

The Chief of Police Mr. Acevedo, Ex-Mayor Gus Garcia, Dr. Sanchez of S.W.Key, Councilman Martinez, LULAC District 12, Director, Adriana Argaiz, Agregada de Asuntos Comunitarios de consulado General de Mexico en Austin, and others have gathered to form a committee to put together a huge Parade and Celebration of our people. They will be asking many Latino organizations to help name the event. Two of the names brought forward are Dia De La Raza, International community. The tentative date is set for Next Year Oct. 11, 2009. In the mean time we are going to do outreach to all who may want to be part of the event. Council 4860 president Fidel Acevedo joined Tax Assessor Nelda Spears to register Voters at the Prime Time Music Fest which was presented by the Tejano Artist Music Museum at Fiesta Gardens this past week. Other Voter registrations are planned.

Community leaders protest the building of a 3 story building on 5901 East Manor Road. The building is to house homeless and the chronically ill. The neighborhood in question currently has a heavy problem with crime, drugs, and transits. The neighebor hood is against it. This is in accordance to the application they have submitted.
